Welcome to the Lions Den! Based in Wigan, United Kingdom, we offer a unique adventure in bushcraft and survival skills, helping children build confidence, learn practical skills and discover what they can achieve.

The story behind Georgia’s Approach

Georgia’s Approach brings together more than twenty years of training, professional experience and learning through adventure. My studies include joinery, bushcraft, survival skills and a BA in Social Work, including human growth and development.

Throughout my career, I have worked in health and social care across forensic and community mental health, child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), learning difficulties, and support for young offenders. I have also worked with autistic children and adults.

My travels have taken me to Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, the Philippines, Japan and Singapore. Along the way, I learned survival techniques beyond those available to me in England and explored how different cultures live, learn and support children.

From climbing Kilimanjaro and Mount Fuji to swimming with great white sharks, weathering storms, learning the basics of new languages and living off the land, these experiences shaped my understanding of education. I came to believe that practical skills, resourcefulness and confidence have an essential place alongside academic learning.

A place to learn, grow and be yourself

I developed Georgia’s Approach to support children with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties or mental health needs, as well as young people involved in the youth justice system.

At the Lions Den, we aim to provide a safe, welcoming environment where children can be themselves, express their personalities and learn through hands-on experiences. There is room for energy, humour, curiosity and individuality.

Above all, I encourage children to think for themselves, believe in their abilities and pursue their hopes and dreams.
